The Mutrox MediaWall is a unique home theater concept offering a total hi-fi , movie and TV experience in the living room. Family B came to the Mutrox showroom to see this MediaWall and bought a custom made MediaWall in which we integrated the high-end CI800 built-in speakers of Bowers & Wilkins.

After a visit by family B to the Mutrox listening room with MediaWall, we were asked to come up with a concept in which speakers, TV, equipment and subwoofers are concealed. It also had to be possible to watch movies on a 3-meter wide screen.

To improve the room, Mutrox first looked at the current reverberation time and frequency response. For correct hi-fi reproduction, we use a reverb time based on the volume of the room, which must be linear for hi-fi listening. In addition, reflections must be reduced below the margin in order to obtain an uncolored sound image. The MediaWall conceals acoustic elements that help to reduce reverberation time across the entire spectrum. By making the cabinet fronts partially acoustically transparent, and placing high-quality absorption material behind them, the reverberation time in the room is invisibly reduced. By broadband absorption, the reverberation time dropped linearly. This is important in the reproduction of this high-quality and honest in-wall speaker. The Bowers & Wilkins CI800 series, implemented in this cabinet, is among the best available in in-wall speakers. Two units of Bowers & Wilkins ISW 4 in-wall subwoofers were chosen for impressive low-end performance. This choice meant that no speakers were placed in plain sight. Two large acoustic paintings from the Mutrox AcousticArt line take away the reflections from the adjacent walls. This ensures a true-to-life reproduction of music and sound during movies.

The result is more than impressive. By mounting absorbers in the cabinet, high and mid frequencies are absorbed. The speakers are "flush mounted" in a baffle system that can be rotated to the correct listening position. This system makes it possible to fully listen to the immense range of the high-quality speakers. With the mix of Bowers & Wilkins speakers and Mutrox acoustic solutions, a controlled environment has been created in which it is pleasant listening and the high quality of the English speaker brand really comes into its own. Movie watching is also an impressive experience due to the carefully tuned system. An additional acoustic transparent screen lowers, at the same time as the projector, from the ceiling when watching a movie. The recessed ceiling speakers CCM8.5 from the same CI800 series are carefully placed in the 7.1 setting and provide the ultimate room experience when watching a movie. This creates a true home theater effect in the living room.

The collaboration on this project between Bowers & Wilkins and Mutrox worked synergistically. With everyone working at the highest level, it was inevitable that a very impressive project was realized here with which the family is very happy.
