Mutrox home theater with Roaring Twenties theme

Dennis and Joyce approached Mutrox with the request to build a home theater for the whole family. Their shared hobby: watching movies! The dream theater had to have a look in the atmosphere of the heyday of American cinema: the 1920s! This period also gave us the first movies with sound: mono of course... A big contrast to the Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound system of this home theater! In a beautiful collaboration, the client chose the beautiful wallpaper and the characteristic red carpeting, we came up with the acoustic modifications in 20s style.

The brief for Mutrox was to build a home theater in a room measuring approximately 3 x 6 m with the distinct styling of the "Roaring Twenties. Important for the client was that there would be enough seating for the whole family, without compromising on the quality of image and sound or comfort. The largest possible image was obvious for the most intense movie experience possible. In other words, a wall-to-wall screen!

Together, we looked for all the elements that would give the home theater the style and quality we were looking for. The characteristic red carpet, the beautiful wallpaper and the acoustics in 1920s style turned out to be a hit: this would be a real dream theater! What could not be missing was enough space for refreshments, chilled drinks and, of course, a popcorn machine. To create a different atmosphere in the room every time, we used full-color Philips Hue LED strips, combined with Hue spotlights in a warm-white color. To ensure comfortable viewing even in hot weather, we invisibly incorporated an air conditioner into the space that can also heat the home theater.

At the front of the room, we built a solid "baffle-wall" to mount the speakers resonance-free behind the acoustically transparent screen. Under the baffle-wall came a cabinet for all the equipment. To ensure that the people in the back row can also see the image clearly, we built a stage, which also serves as a "bass trap. This makes the low tones much tighter. For perfect acoustics, we installed a black acoustic stretch ceiling and calculated the ideal amount of acoustically absorbent panels.

To give the room a real cinema atmosphere, we placed our luxurious Mutrox CineSeats on the first row and Mutrox ShuffleSeats on the second row. Enough space for everyone!

Dolby Atmos sound is reproduced by Bowers & Wilkins speakers: in-walls from the 700 series behind the screen and CWM 663 and CCM 663 speakers as surround and height channels. Two Bowers & Wilkins DB4S subwoofers provide a solid foundation. All this is controlled by electronics from Arcam. The image is projected onto an acoustically transparent 16:9 screen from Screen Research by a JVC LX-NZ3B laser projector.

We delivered this home theater completely turn-key. The customer could immediately enjoy this special space at the push of a button!

Dennis and Joyce are extremely satisfied with their home theater and use it very regularly.
