Dolby Atmos out of sight - the Mutrox Atmos wall

As a high-end home theater builder, Mutrox prefers to choose at least a Dolby Atmos setup in 7.1.4 format when realizing their dream cinemas. This is a good choice because all Atmos films are mixed to this format and with clever placement this setup can also serve DTS:X and Auro3D soundtracks very well. In a "dedicated" room it is often no problem at all to properly integrate these 11 speakers and one or more subwoofers into the decor, but in a living room it can sometimes be different. For example, it is often difficult to neatly conceal cables afterwards, side or rear walls are missing, and acoustic panels or speakers on the wall can be a visual killjoy.

We thought that this could be done differently and developed a high-end solution for Dolby Atmos reproduction in the living room, with all the sound coming from the front wall, without speakers on the side walls, back wall or on the ceiling! The Mutrox Atmos wall concept was born!

We were approached by Yvo with the request to create for him a perfect sounding Dolby Atmos room in his living room without speakers on the side walls, back wall or ceiling. A challenge Mutrox gladly accepted!

Mutrox has been the manufacturer of the Bowers & Wilkins 'Architect Frame' for several years. Developed by us in collaboration with Bowers & Wilkins, this product cleverly integrates the left, right and center speakers and subwoofer into a beautifully finished cabinet around the television. Different versions are available for 55", 65", 75" and 77" televisions in 3 different color fabric finishes.

With our knowledge of studio construction, furniture construction and acoustics, we know how to get the best possible sound quality out of Bowers & Wilkins speakers that goes far beyond mounting them in a (drywall) wall.

For surround playback, the Architect Frame expands to include at least 2 or 4 surround speakers for a 5.1 or 7.1 configuration, or even 2 or 4 additional height channels for a true Atmos experience. But where do you put all those speakers? Sometimes there is no back wall or side wall for the side or rear speakers, nor is it always possible to mount speakers on the ceiling without more.

From that issue, the Mutrox Atmos wall was developed: a handsome structure that houses a full 5.1.2 Atmos sound system with convincing Atmos reproduction, where reflections allow the elevation and surround channels to arrive at the listener from the right angle.

The sound of this Mutrox Atmos wall is stunningly convincing, with a fully immersive Dolby Atmos experience that is only slightly inferior to a Dolby Atmos setup with the speakers above, behind and beside the listener. Yvo is extremely satisfied with this custom solution, which also looks incredibly beautiful!
