Discovery Channel

Discovery Channel has taken a unique position in the Dutch media landscape as a true "men's channel. To maintain this position, the channel has a clear vision: intelligent, original, dynamic and innovative. And we have noticed that. The scoop of our new way of building a studio was therefore for Discovery Channel. With only two weeks(!) construction time on site, we realized two completely acoustically calculated edit suites and a custom S.M.R.T. vocal booth / speaking booth with acoustic finish.

The best of both worlds. The personalization of a custom music studio but the advantages of a prefab studio booth. So short construction time of the studio construction on site and a favorable price.

What makes this project even more special is that during design we already calculated the acoustics. As a result, the bass traps in the rooms were tuned to the roommes so that the edit rooms sound natural and there is an accurate picture of what is being mixed. The vocal booth / speaking booth was assigned a shorter reverb time so that the engineer, using the technology at his disposal, ultimately determines how the voice is going to sound in the final mix and does not have to filter out influences from acoustic imperfections.

Several options were discussed at the start of studio construction, but the most comprehensive option was ultimately chosen. Two completely acoustically calculated edit suites and an S.M.R.T. vocal booth with acoustic finish.

In Mutrox's workshop, the booth, S.M.R.T. wall, broadband acoustic panels, bass traps, doors and windows were fabricated with Sonic Glass in two weeks. After the additional construction work was accomplished, Mutrox completed the total build two weeks later. A successful first of this unique studio construction system for custom music studios. For Discovery Channel because they were happy with the very short downtime. And we are just proud of another successful end result and a satisfied customer.
