Creative Sounds has grown explosively and, in addition to a large number of studios and vocal boots, was also looking for a professional mixing studio for film. Because this studio had to be built to Dolby specifications, it was quite a challenge to find the right party for it. In their search, Patrick and Charlotte ended up at Mutrox for their new mixing studio for film. Because we are acoustic consultants for Bowers & Wilkins speakers, and sparring partners for Dolby, we have a lot of experience in building high-quality home theaters and mix studios. Creative Sounds could put that knowledge to good use in their plans for the future.

For the design and studio construction of their studio complex, Creative Sounds was looking for high sound insulation and a good sounding studio for mixing film in a 5.1 format. There were also specific requirements in terms of room acoustics and appearance along with preparing for the future for 7.1 mixing and even the new Dolby Atmos 3D sound format. Mutrox followed up and realized this.

Patrick and Charlotte, both owners of Creative Sounds, visited Mutrox back in 2013. Back then, they already had a clear vision of the future for mixing film in a dedicated theater for film. As specialists in home cinema and sound, they were already very impressed with the Mutrox Theatre in Numansdorp back then. In 2014 their wish finally came true!

For the studio construction of the mix studio for film, Mutrox first looked at the best room ratios for home cinema according to Dolby standards. Assigning the right room ratios is necessary to spread build-up frequencies as much as possible. This makes making the room acoustically correct more predictable than if this were not taken into account. By using a, bend-slack wall construction in studio construction, we gain control over the energy produced in the room. Something very important in the perception of low frequencies in a home theater. By using a new high-mass wall system, the resonant frequency in walls and ceiling was reduced, bringing the extinction frequency below the hearing range. The result is a high sound insulation value and a correct experience in the room when watching film in it. With resonators and acoustically absorbing custom panels, the room acoustics in the home theater were set up according to Dolby standards in terms of reverberation time. As a result, the sound engineers are comfortable in the home theater and can rely on their mix.

The result was more than successful. The total studio construction of the cinema was realized in four weeks. The home theater has a very high sound insulation value, so the engineers do not bother the other people on the floor. In terms of acoustics, Creative Sounds' mix studio for film was custom designed for them according to the high requirements of Dolby professional theaters.

The collaboration on this project between Creative Sounds and Mutrox worked synergistically. Because they aimed for the highest level, a very impressive mixing studio for film was realized here.
